The Al Volo Story
2002-2003
Al Volo (Italian for "on the go") began as a delivery company in 2002, with the simple aim of providing affordable, quality Italian food for workers in the City. A fleet of bicycles and scooters were soon delivering throughout the City and Canary Wharf from our temporary home, also located in the Truman Brewery.
2003-2007
In 2003 we moved to the place we still call home. Initially the kitchen was still used just for the delivery service but an evolutionary process was underway! At first some customers started to come to us for takeaway, and with the purchase of a few tables and chairs we converted the front of the house into a makeshift canteen where takeaways could be eaten on site!

Of course it wasn't long before Al Volo became a full fledged eat in cafe with outdoor seating area, well, picnic benches and a few umbrellas to start with!
2008 to 2010
Christmas 2007 saw the arrival of the new Al Volo interior that you see now. Our Italian, fresh and simple food seems to have proved popular with local workers and residents, as well as those coming to visit the vibrant attractions, nightlife and markets that the area uniquely provides. With that in mind we completely refurbished Al Volo to provide a relaxed, contemporary and stylish environment befitting of our food.

Autumn 2010
In October 2010 we launched the Al Volo pod - a new concept for al fresco dining. Designed by Inflate, the pod makes al fresco dining possible throughout the year and is the perfect venue for parties. For more information on the pod visit our facebook page.
